Product Details

Whole Formulas Ginseng Master, 1 fl oz

Whole Formulas Ginseng Master contains potent extracts of Red Chinese ginseng, American ginseng, eleuthero root, licorice root, ginkgo leaf, fo-ti root, codonopsis root and ginger.

“Ginseng” technically refers to two species in the Panax genus, American (Panax quinquefolius) and Asian or Korean (Panax ginseng). Both have similar chemical composition and are considered to be adaptogenic herbs, which help the body cope with stress and promote a balanced state. Eleuthero root, or “Siberian ginseng,” is a distant cousin of panax varieties and is not to be confused with American or Asian ginseng as it contains different active compounds.

Red Chinese Ginseng

Red Chinese ginseng root (Panax ginseng or Asian ginseng) has been used as a restorative tonic in China for more than 5,000 years. The Chinese believed it enhanced sexual energy, longevity, wisdom and enlightenment, and was thought to benefit the entire body because of its resemblance to the human form.

American Ginseng

American Ginseng root has a long history of use as a potent health-promoting tonic. Native Americans used wild ginseng as a stimulant to address headaches, fever, indigestion and fertility. Ginseng is currently one of the most popular herbs in the United States, used to promote vitality, resist the negative effects of stress and support the immune system.

Eleuthero Root

Eleuthero root (Siberian ginseng or “wucha”) supports the body and all of its systems. Siberian ginseng is a distant cousin of panax varieties, but is not to be confused with American or Asian ginseng as it contains different active compounds. Its valuable adaptogenic qualities work to balance out the body (including the “stress hormone” cortisol), encourage healthy energy and immune function and resist the effects of physical, mental and environmental stress. The Chinese herbalist Li Shi-Chen wrote: "I would rather have a handful of wucha than a cartload of gold and jewels.”

Licorice Root

”Licorice” comes from the Greek word “glukurrhiza” meaning “sweet root.” It's an adaptogenic herb commonly used to promote healthy cortisol (stress hormone) levels, immune system function, respiratory health and digestion. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, licorice is said to harmonize the action of other herbs.

Ginkgo Leaf

Ginkgo has powerful antioxidant qualities that fight cellular damage from free radicals. This neuro-protective herb also promotes healthy circulation and cognitive function, including mental focus and memory. Chemical compounds called terpenoids (known as “ginkgolides” in ginkgo biloba) are thought to be responsible for its unique effects on circulation. Ginkgolides promote the dilation of blood vessels and a reduction in the “stickiness” of blood platelets.

Fo-Ti Root

Native to central and southern China, fo ti (he shou wu) is a treasured herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Said to calm the spirit, the English translation means “vine to pass the night.” Fo ti rejuvenates the body, supports healthy aging and promotes longevity. It is commonly used to cleanse the blood and encourage liver and kidney function. According to folklore, the older and larger the roots are, the more power they possess.

Codonopsis Root

Codonopsis is a revered healing herb in China and Japan. Documented in the Chinese encyclopedia Ben Jing Feng Yuan, this root was used as early as 1695 CE for respiratory ailments and was a popular “energy boost” to combat fatigue. Today, codonopsis root is used to support metabolism and the immune, digestive and respiratory systems.

Ginger Root

Ginger is high in antioxidants and an excellent defense against cellular damage. It contains powerful anti-inflammatory compounds and is known to aid GI distress (nausea in particular). Categorized as a “warming” herb in Ayurveda, ginger promotes circulation, immune and metabolic function and detoxification through the lymphatic system.

Whole formulas does not source threatened botanicals like echinacea, goldenseal or ginseng from the wild.

The Benefits of Herbal Extracts:

Potency

The herbs used in Whole Formulas extracts are picked at the peak of their growth cycle to ensure maximum potency, then processed immediately upon receipt to capture their inherent vitality. Extracts are often the preferred choice of herbalists and naturopaths for this reason.

Bioavailability

Due to common digestion issues, many people have trouble fully breaking down pills and tablets. With extracts, the plant material has already been processed during formulation. All that remains is the full-spectrum of potent active nutrients ready for absorption.

Convenience

Simply place the recommended dose in water or juice and drink. The built-in dropper cap makes it easy to control dosage.

1 fl oz in amber glass bottle with dropper top.
