Whole Formulas Echinacea - Goldenseal Complex - Alcohol-Free, 1 fl oz
Whole Formulas Echinacea - Goldenseal Complex establishes a strong foundation for the entire immune system. Echinacea promotes robust immune protection and goldenseal may offer antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and astringent effects. This complex also contains yerba mansa root, Oregon grape root, licorice root, red root, myrrh gum and wild indigo root for comprehensive support.
Echinacea
The echinacea genus has nine species, commonly referred to as “coneflowers” or “purple coneflowers” because of their beautiful, ample blooms and prominent cone-like centers. These centers have dense, prickly scales that are said to resemble the spines of an angry hedgehog; (“Echinos" is hedgehog in Greek).
Historically, Native Americans used echinacea for its remarkable medicinal benefits, including immune support. The Kiowa and Cheyenne tribes used it to treat sore throats, the Pawnee used it for headaches and the Lakotah used it as an analgesic. In the mid 19th to the early 20th century, echinacea became a popular antimicrobial herb in eclectic medicine (an American form of medicine that utilized herbal remedies). Records show it was used to treat a host of ailments, from general pain relief to snakebites. Echinacea is widely used today to support immune system function, especially during cold and flu season.
Goldenseal
Goldenseal (Hydrastis canadensis) is a member of the buttercup family. Native to southeastern Canada and the eastern United States, this small perennial herb has vibrant yellow roots that have been used by Native Americans for centuries. The Cherokee used it to cleanse local inflammation and improve appetite, the Iroquois used it to treat whooping cough, diarrhea and pneumonia and the roots were commonly turned into a dye.
Goldenseal's potential antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and astringent benefits may support the body during times of immune stress. It contains berberine, an antimicrobial compound typically used to ward off bacteria, candida and parasites. Goldenseal is also used to support the digestive system.
Whole formulas does not source threatened botanicals like echinacea, goldenseal or ginseng from the wild.
The Benefits of Herbal Extracts:
Potency
The herbs used in Whole Formulas extracts are picked at the peak of their growth cycle to ensure maximum potency, then processed immediately upon receipt to capture their inherent vitality. Extracts are often the preferred choice of herbalists and naturopaths for this reason.
