Dong quai (Angelica sinensis) is a popular Chinese herb in the Umbelliferae family, which also includes carrots, parsley, dill and celery. Native to China, Korea and Japan, this perennial prefers to grow in cold, damp areas and has slender stalks that produce clusters of delicate white flowers.
Commonly referred to as “female ginseng,” its bundles of thread-like roots have been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine for over 1,000 years as a therapeutic tonic for women’s health issues, including fatigue, menstrual cycle pain and irregularity and menopause symptoms.
