Vitamin C also detoxifies excessive by-products of the stress hormones, especially adrenalin, which can occur during acute or prolonged chronic stress or adrenal imbalance.  The highest concentration of Vitamin C in the body is in the adrenal glands, which have a multitude of Vitamin C transporters to support a healthy response to stress.  The stress response causes Vitamin C to be released from the adrenal glands into the blood.  Cortisol then gets released as a result of the release of Vitamin C from the adrenal glands.  With the Cortisol release, the body can then respond to and manage the stress.
